ABOUT OUR CPP PROGRAM

All contracting operations are eligible for our CPP program.

Underwriting Guidelines

KATE'S AUDITING TIP: “If your client also performs snow plowing services, we suggest they keep separate payroll records. This will help keep their costs down at audit-time as we will charge snowplowing rates only to their exact payroll instead of an average percentage."

• New venture risks must have three years’ experience in landscaping work

• Existing businesses require continuous prior coverage

• If workers’ compensation is requested, must have three years favorable loss runs

• Acceptable insurance score

• No more than 25% of total receipts subcontracted out

• No tree removal or stump grinding

• Snow removal acceptable (must also write commercial auto)

• Annual audits guarantee correct premiums


ARTISAN CONTRACTORS PROGRAM ENDORSEMENT

Your client will benefit if they qualify for our Artisan program! This program is available in our Commercial Package Policy and is tailored for smaller contractor operations like landscapers.

Artisan Program Eligibility

• No more than 5 employees (including owner)

• Not greater than $250,000 in payroll (including owner)

• Gross receipts not to exceed $1.25M

• Eligible class codes found in the Rockford Express Cabinets


Inland Marine Coverage

Our Artisan Contractors Inland Marine Coverage form is available for all contractors. It can be found on the Inland Marine chevron. Premium is $250 with a $500 deductible, highlights include:


• Contractors Equipment And Tools - $10,000

• Installation Floater - $10,000

• All Employee Tools - $5,000

• Any One Tool - $2,000

• Equipment Rental Reimbursement - $5,000

• Emergency Removal - $1,000

• Debris Removal - $5,000


COVERAGE SPOTLIGHT: CONTRACTORS EQUIPMENT

Contractors Equipment provides special perils coverage for mobile machinery, equipment, and tools that are used by contractors. Coverage is provided for the

insured’s contractors equipment as well as equipment of others in their care, custody and control. Coverage under Inland Marine 7000 is limited to equipment that is specifically shown on the schedule. Valuation of contractors equipment is based on actual cash value.


Property Covered

Contractors equipment is defined as mobile equipment and tools that are used by a contractor as part of their construction work including front-end loaders, excavators, backhoe loader, portable generators, jackhammers, forklifts, and tools.


Property Not Covered

Among the types of property not covered under the contractors equipment coverage form are property leased, rented or loaned to others and vehicles designed for highway use.


COVERAGE EXTENSIONS & SUPPLEMENTAL COVERAGES

Additional coverage for Contractors Equipment are provided in the coverage form. The limits can be changed with underwriting approval.

• Debris Removal

• All Employee Tools - $5,000

• Equipment leased or rented from others - $2,000

• Equipment Rental Reimbursement - $5,000

• Newly Purchased Property - 30% of catastroph

• Pollutant Cleanup and Removal - $25,000

• Rental Reimbursement - $5,000

• Spare Parts and Fuel - $5,000


EVALUATING CONTRACTORS EQUIPMENT

When evaluating contractors equipment risks, the following should be considered:

• Type of contractor and work performed

• Equipment scheduled including type, value, condition

• Maintenance Records

• Equipment storage including both in buildings and in the open at job sites

• Operator experience with equipment

• Loss prevention measures in place
